NEW CONSTRUCTION REQUIREMENTS

When a contractor builds in Holiday Shores, they need to come to our office and fill out a construction permit, sewer service information sheet, an application form, right-of-way easement, and instructions as to what the District requires in order to have water and/or  sewer service.  We charge $2950 water tap on fee, $6000 sewer tap on fee for a standard unit.  Larger sewer units can add $100 - $200 extra.  All the paperwork must be completed and payment needs to be made before we can order the tank for the contractor to install.  After everything is installed according to our specifications, we have up to 30 days to install the services.

NEW RESIDENTS OF HOLIDAY SHORES

Before we can turn the water on, we need an application form filled out and a $100.00 deposit that is refundable after two years with no delinquent payments, and upon the customer’s request.  We do not take a letter of credit.  We mail the water/sewer bills the last day of the month and the bills are always due the 25th of the month.

Whether you use water or not, you are always charged $11.34 facility charge for water and $9.27 facility charge for sewer.  We charge $4.27/thousand gallons of water and $2.79/thousand gallons for sewer.

We sell water to only the residences and business in Holiday Shores and approximately one mile south of the Holiday Dam Road on the east side of St. James Road.  We provide sewer service to all of the residences, businesses and churches with the Sanitary District.  Fosterburg Water District will provide the water service to Lake James Subdivision.

SERVICING GRINDER PUMPS

We have 24-hour on call service if a grinder pump malfunctions or there is a backup in the house.  You call the main office, 656-4933, if after hours, listen to the answering machine and call the cell phone number posted on the answering machine.  We should respond in 30 minutes.

News from Holiday Shores Sanitary District

The construction of the new Water Treatment Plant is approximately 75 % complete. The remaining work is the final electrical connections and the system integration and automation. This work is the most complicated and the most critical and time consuming. Considering this integration and the necessary programming time, we are planning a start up for the new plant by June 1, 2011.

As we stated previously, this new plant is necessary because of a number of factors. The existing plant is 45 years old, it has reached its treatment capacity and most important we cannot meet the future IEPA regulations for drinking water.

Before the District Trustees decided to build a new treatment plant, a number of alternatives were considered. Buy water from a neighboring water district, buy water from a neighboring town or rehabilitate and expand the existing treatment plant. The cost of any of these options was more than building a new plant. Buying water would cost each homeowner a lot more than what we are paying now and we could not be guaranteed that the amount of water that we need could be provided in a drought condition. The existing plant is land locked and the purchase of at least two residences would have been necessary to increase the capacity of the plant.

The new water treatment plant has twice the water capacity (with the capability of being expanded further) and has the latest filtering systems to meet the new IEPA requirements in the foreseeable future, as well, as the ability to add additional disinfection techniques that may also be required in the future.

This New Water Treatment Plant will serve Holiday Shores for a long time and will be a state of the art facility. One that is necessary and one that the residents of Holiday Shores deserve. An open house is tentatively scheduled for mid summer 2011. We will keep you advised on the exact date.
